A late addition to our 2024-2025 program, the “Danse câllée” (Called Dance), organized by the Franco-Ontarian Folklore Center, gave us the opportunity to rediscover this traditional francophone folk dance from North America in Kingston.
The “Danse câllée” was led by Jean-François Berthiaume as the caller and Louis-Simon Lemieux on the violin. These two artists also offered a training workshop for future callers in Kingston, followed by two evenings of called dance, helping to preserve this beautiful tradition.
